Super Schools

On Friday 17th October   six of the juniors went to Ampleforth Collage to take part in a sporting event called Super Schools. From each school there is supposed be 3 year 6 girls and 3 year 6 boys. That meant that we were in a difficult situation as we only have 5 year 6 girls. Firstly, we had to get a year 5 to take part, and then we had to substitute some boys for girls! Between us we all took part in 7 different events, these are:

  • Rowing
  • Bench jumps
  • Tyre flip
  • Ball
  • Swimming relay race
  • Bucking Bronco (the mystery event)
  • Individual swimming

The event was very entertaining and amusing and everyone really enjoyed it. At the end of it we ended up with 3 wins in the girls rowing (Nancy), girls bucking bronco (Hannah) and the whole team won the swimming relay. We came 4th and were 4 points away from coming 3rd.

Year 5 and 6 Football Tournament

Football!

DCIM101MEDIAOn Friday the 10th of October 2014 the year sixes and me went to Ryedale school to do a football match against 4 other schools named St Benedict’s, Kirkbymoorside, Nawton and Helmsley. There was a girls and a boys tournament we only entered the girls because we only had a girls team.

Out of those four games we played, we scored five goals and came 3rd! The best we’ve ever done! Lilli says “I enjoyed it very much and we could not have played better.” Nancy says, “we performed very well considering that we don’t have a large selection of children to play.”

Cross Country Success!

Friday 3rd October 2014

What a fantastic day! All of the juniors who took part in the local small schools cross country run should feel incredibly proud and be smiling from ear to ear. The course was very undulating over long grassy fields and even included climbing over a fence, twice! It really was a cross country course and a great introduction to those new to the sport.

There were two races spilt into boys and girls. The first the Year 3 and 4 race was a little over a mile and our only junior boys did a super job and came in 9th and 10th. The girls did equally as well, with our first two achieving 17th and 20th.

The second race for the Year 5 and 6’s, was just as good, and although on this occasion we only had representatives from the year 6 girls, they ran an excellent race and between them succeeded in winning the top spot for the girls race! Overall their places were: 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. Georgina who won this second race was presented with a certificate and so were the winning girls team.

Well done to everyone who took part and to those pupils, parents and friends who came along to support them.

A great start to our sporting year.
